Ecomuseums Habichtswald and Reinhardswald
Guided tours and excursions, exhibitions and presentations invite you to get to know regional culture and nature.
You cannot enter an Ecomuseum. You are just there as the entire landscape turns into a museum: at open air events, during presentations, at unusual locations or during excursions to mysterious and interesting sites.
The idea of Ecomuseums comes from France, where it is a common part of regional culture.
What does “Eco” mean?
The term “eco” is derived from French and has the same meaning as in English – just as in ecology and economy. It symbolises the interplay of regional history, development, human labour, and the relation to the environment.
The various events under the umbrella of the Ecomuseums are only possible thanks to the voluntary activities of several associations and initiatives in the region. ‚Region Kassel-Land e.V.’ contributes advisory and coordinatory support.
Ecomuseum Reinhardswald
A museum without door and gate – north of Kassel between Weser River and Diemel River.
