Winter sports in the Kasseler Land
Enjoy the magic of a white winter landscape – during skiing or luging, on a cross-country ski run or simply during long walking tours.
Frosty temperatures, creaky snow under your feet, white tree tops, twinkling ice crystals and a very special atmosphere simply belong to the winter time – as well as a proper snowball fight or the opportunity for skiing, snowboarding and sledging.
The ski resorts in our region invite you to this enjoyment:
In the high Habichtswald Forest near Kassel, there are two cross-country ski runs with 5 km length starting from the parking lot at the Loipenhaus. Also skaters will enjoy their stay: 6 km of grinded courses can be used.

The Hohes Gras (“High Grass”) is located in the outskirts of Kassel amidst the nature park Habichtswald Forest. With its prepared ski piste and its lift, it is a popular destination. The prepared ski piste guarantees pure downhill fun. A little sales booth and the restaurant Hohes Gras invite you to warm up and to enjoy the après ski!
Further information can be obtained on www.skilift-hohesgras.de or through the piste telephone +49(0)561/3162695 (in German).
Also the winter sports resort Hirschberg in Wickenrode – amidst the nature park Meißner – Kaufunger Wald Forest – is well worth a trip. The ski club Helsa runs and maintains a ski lift and cross-country ski runs. In the winter months with plenty of snow, many different activities are offered – not only for members of the ski club: from a child race and cross country ski events to sledging competitions for the young and the young at heart. And for all the ones who are not entirely confident on two skis, the skiing school offers training courses.
Further information on winter sports and on the ski lift can be found on www.skiclub-helsa.de or under +49(0)5605/91001, Mister Schroeder (in German).
